YESTERDAY'S LEARNINGS - THE WAY OF LEARNING

I learned the following things mentioned below on 7/8/22 from the book SHOW YOUR WORK BY Austin Kleon   .

  • Be a Scenius “Scenius” is a healthier way to think about creativity - “a whole scene of people supporting each other, looking at each other's work, copying from each other, stealing ideas, and contributing ideas”. Anyone can contribute to the scenius. You don't have to be an expert. Just copy or steal ideas by looking at others' work, giving your unique touch to that particular art.
  • Document the process means whatever you do or work on, document that by blogging or recording. So when the finished product is ready you already have extra, so many videos or blogs which will help you in sharing the work.
  • Share small pieces of your process every day: By tweeting or sharing through blogs, youtube. This tells and lets people know what you are working on, what's your progress till now, and What idea's did you implement today which led you to complete your art.
  • Be an Amateur: Doing or sharing something is better than doing or sharing nothing. Don't aim for perfection instead just share or do your art. Present your art in front of the audience not worrying about perfection. If you don't be an Amateur, you will never know what the audience likes about your art and what not. And knowing the taste of the audience is a must.

Some best quotes from the book I came across yesterday :

  • “ Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating. ” —John Cleese
  • " All you have to do is show your work "
  • “ In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities,” said Zen monk Shunryu Suzuki. “In the expert’s mind, there are few. ”
  • " Share what you love, and the people who love the same things will find you "
  • “Put yourself, and your work, out there every day, and you’ll start meeting some amazing people.” —Bobby Solomon

That's it for the today
